New details have emerged after Today show host Allison Langdon was rushed to hospital last week after injuring herself during filming.

Alison Langdon is taking time off to recover after she was injured while filming a segment for Today.

The 41-year-old was rushed to hospital last week and will reportedly require knee surgery after she hurt herself while she was filming a segment on “hydrofoiling” in Queensland.

The Today host is set to take a “lengthy break” from her hosting duties and is set to have surgery in Sydney after she “fell awkwardly” at the end of the segment.

Channel 9 said in a statement that it was an “unfortunate accident” and despite the mishap, both Karl and Ally “had a wonderful time”.

“They had a comprehensive safety induction, and a thorough run-through of all aspects of hydrofoiling,” the network said to News.com.au.

“As with every shoot, safety requirements, briefings and subsequent after-care, are strictly followed and prioritised.”

Dramatic footage was aired on the Today show on Friday, which showed Ally in the water wearing a life vest as she was guided to shore by two men.

Karl Stefanovic was seen helping Ally take her helmet off and later revealed the shocking news about the 41-year-old on air.

“She had a bit of an accident yesterday, she’s doing fine,” he said.

“She hurt herself really badly. She’s in hospital this morning. She’s OK,” he added.

Leila McKinnon is currently filling in for Ally while she recovers.

“So I got the call last night and I was in my pyjamas,” Leila said on Friday in an Instagram story on the official Today show page.

“Ally’s had a bit of a mishap so I quickly got changed and headed up the road.”
