Barbra Streisand enlists Hollywood's biggest stars for new album

As one of the greatest stars to ever come out of Broadway, Streisand returns to her roots with Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway. Her latest album features a line-up of Hollywood stars and a special performance with her husband, James Brolin.

Barbra Streisand and Alec Baldwin duet for the musical number, The Best Thing That Ever Has Happened

Streisand is widely recognised as an icon in multiple entertainment fields, and has attained unprecedented achievements as a recording artist, actor, concert performer, producer, director, author and songwriter.

She has been awarded two Oscars, five Emmys, ten Golden Globes, eight Grammys plus two special Grammys, a special Tony award in 1970, and two CableACE Awards. She is the only artist to receive honours in all of those fields of endeavour.

And now she has returned to the studio with her latest album Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway that is a “special” for Barbra Streisand fans.

Partnering with Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Anthony Newley, Patrick Wilson and Daisy Ridley, you expect great performances.

However, Alec Baldwin, Melissa McCartney, Sam Fox, Seith McFarlane, Chris Pine, and Antonio Banderas are surprising and interesting choices.

Barbra invites some of her famous friends for a charming take on Broadway classics

Streisand with Anne Hathaway At the Ballet is stunning and while it has a long intro it is well worth the wait when the singing begins. My stand out tracks are the Streisand’s solos Losing My Mind, and Not A Day Goes By. There is a special moment with her husband James Brolin introducing Fifty Percent.

The Encore deluxe album track list includes:

  1. At the Ballet with Anne Hathaway & Daisy Ridley
  2. Loving You with Patrick Wilson
  3. Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me) with Anthony Newley
  4. Any Moment Now with Hugh Jackman
  5. I Didn’t Know What Time It Was
  6. The Best Thing That Ever Has Happened with Alec Baldwin
  7. Not A Day Goes By
  8. Anything You Can Do with Melissa McCarthy
  9. Fifty Percent
  10. I’ll Be Seeing You / I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face with Chris Pine
  11. Losing My Mind
  12. Pure Imagination with Seth MacFarlane
  13. Take Me To The World with Antonio Banderas
  14. Climb Every Mountain with Jamie Foxx

Cherie's final verdict: This album is another example of Barbra Streisand pushing the envelop of creativity and she again nails it.
