While the iconic television show “The Love Boat” that ran from 1977 to 1987 ensures that taking cameras on a cruise can never be a new idea, Channel Seven is airing a new take on cruising next week.

On Tuesday March 31 at 8pm Seven will show a one-hour special with Tom Williams, Rachael Finch and Tim “Rosso” Ross onboard Voyager of the Seas for a 10-night Voyager of the Seas’ Fijian Delight cruise they took in January. None of the stars had cruised before and the prime time show goes a long way to debunk some of the preconceptions people may have about cruising.

“I have never cruised before and definitely felt it was not for me – boring and full of old people! But boy was I wrong. Voyager of the Seas is packed with incredible things to do, see and eat! From surfing on the FlowRider, to rock climbing, ice skating, spa treatments, 10 different places to eat and more, there is definitely no chance of boredom,” said Rosso.

“We are thrilled to have been able to create a fantastic program with Channel Seven to show a wider audience the Royal Caribbean difference. Cruising is absolutely booming in the Australian market and we have found that those who haven’t cruised before have difficulty differentiating between us and the competition and we really do have some very unique, only-on Royal Caribbean features on our local ships. This program really helps show what cruising with Royal Caribbean is like and I think everyone will love it,” said Sean Treacy, Royal Caribbean’s commercial director.

The program highlights Royal Caribbean’s onboard offerings including its world class dining options; the DreamWorks Experience and signature Royal Caribbean features such as the FlowRider surf machine, ice skating rink, full size sports court, rock climbing wall, and the Royal Promenade – Voyager of the Seas’ indoor street that runs the length of the ship offering duty free shopping, bars and a café. Perhaps the most substantial newish development (introduced in 2013) is the industry’s first “virtual balcony” inside staterooms with real time sights and sounds of the ocean projected on 80-inch floor-to-ceiling LED screens.

Tom, Rachael and Rosso Go Cruising premieres Tuesday, March 31 at 8pm on Channel Seven. Will you be tuning in?
