Channel 10 has confirmed that Dancing With The Stars will not return to our screens in 2021.

“We have decided to hang up our dancing shoes, lycra pants and sequined jackets for the time being,” a network spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday.

”We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all those involved in the show, in particular Amanda Keller and Grant Denyer, who were fabulous hosts, as well as all the judges, dancers, the stars and of course the crew.”

Dancing With The Stars first aired in Australia from 2004 to 2015 on Channel 7.

It then moved to Channel 10 in 2019 with brand new hosts Grant Denyer and Amanda Keller.

Comedian Celia Pacquola was crowned the winner alongside professional dance partner Jarryd Byrne in 2020.

When the pandemic hit earlier in the year, the show was forced to film without a studio audience.

While ratings did well, with the 2020 finale watched by 635,000 viewers, it wasn’t enough to justify the budget required for a weekly live shows plus celebrity salaries.

The cancellation marks the fourth show Grant Denyer has had axed after joining Channel 10 in 2014.
