With ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ (the first movie), grossing a healthy $135 Million worldwide, it’s safe to say the second film has a lot to live up to. Nonetheless, with the original all-star cast gathered for round two, we have no doubt this film will be just as entertaining as the first.

A little like ‘Love Actually’ for the retired, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a fun, feel good movie.

Those who saw the first one will recognise many familiar faces in this sequel: Sonny (Dev Patel) is looking to expand his business now that his original hotel for the 'elderly and beautiful' is prospering, but his preoccupation means his engagement to Sunaina (Tina Desai) is thriving somewhat less, especially when the smarmy but handsome Kushal (Shazad Latif) shows up on the scene.

Meanwhile residents Evelyn (Judi Dench) and Doug (Bill Nighy) have yet to take their blossoming friendship to the next level, a matter complicated further when his estranged wife (Penelope Wilton) pops back unannounced. Glamorous Madge (Celia Imrie) finds herself torn between two rich suitors, while frisky Norman (Ronald Pickup) and Carol (Diana Hardcastle) struggle with monogamy, and a dashing new arrival (Richard Gere, no less) takes a shine to Sonny's mum. With all these romantic entanglements, it falls to the hotel's co-manager Muriel (Maggie Smith) to dispense wisdom - in her own humorous way.

The excellent cast and humorous storyline makes this is a must-see movie!

Releasing in cinemas across Australia February 26th 2015.
