Lisa Williams shares what its like to have psychic gifts.

This psychic medium from the U.K. was very young when she first saw spirits and inherited the gift from her grandmother. Having appeared on several TV shows and written books she is coming to Australia to share her gifts in an interactive live show.

WYZA spoke exclusively to Lisa about her special talents and what it is like to be a psychic medium.

Q. When did you first realise you had a special gift?
I never realised it was anything special when it first happened. I thought everyone had imaginary friends and spoke to dead people when you were a kid. I was four years old at my earliest memory but my parents tell me I was much younger. I think it was only when I was older and approaching my twenties that I realised ‘Whoa, this is quite a special gift’ and that is when I decided to work with it.

Q. What other jobs have you done before becoming a professional psychic medium?
I have done a variety of jobs, which is why I believe that I have been able to understand people. I was a fitness instructor, sales rep, teacher, professional singer and a nail technician. The best job is being a mother.

Q. When you meet people can you always sense what is going on with them? How does this show itself to you?
It depends if I want to ‘hone’ into them. I don’t do it because I feel it’s an invasion of privacy but there are those times that you can’t help reading a situation. It tends to come to me as a feeling first and then I may get a vision, and if I start to talk to someone thats when my hearing kicks in and I start to hear things.  But it can come in various ways and its never the same.

Q. What does being a psychic medium mean to you?
Being a psychic is being able to read someone’s pathway and being a medium is being able to connect to the ‘other side’ and so I do both.  For me it means being able to help people in their life either find direction or to heal.

“When I was a little girl, I discovered I had a gift. Communicating with those who are no longer with us. Some people say what I do is scary; other people say I change their lives. I just say what I hear and see – and I see a lot!”

Q. What has been the biggest gift your special insight has given you?
Of course it has helped me out personally on numerous occasions, especially when it comes to my health. But I think it’s also being able to help people. The gift of healing is incredible. I am not responsible for their sole healing. I am just a facet of their growth and healing, but it’s wonderful to see how it helps people.

Q. What is the worst thing about being a psychic medium?
Well it depends on what day you ask me that question. There are times I get asked, ‘what do you see around me’ or ‘do you know what I’m thinking?’ – that makes me laugh.  Sometimes it’s a huge responsibility especially when you are working with families and agencies that are relying on my information to find a missing person. But honestly I love my work so much that I never see it as a bad thing, it’s just part of the work I do. You have to be dedicated to the work, and I am.

Q. How does being a psychic medium impact on your daily life?
It doesn’t impact me at all.  What is funny is dating.  When you go out and they ask you what you do. . . I love seeing their reactions.  I’m not sure they know what to say. I remember one person breaking down in tears. I didn’t know what to do. . . I hadn’t even given him a reading. I get mixed reactions naturally but honestly I have control of my gift so I am not bombarded so I lead quite a normal life.

Q. What is the most common misunderstanding people have about you and your gift?
It’s that I can read their mind and that I have all the answers. I really don’t. I wish I did. It’s like when people ask me if I have the lottery numbers. I don’t and it never works like that.

Q. What are the most amazing moments you have experienced on stage?
That's a tough question, because there is something amazing every night. Whether its connecting to the little girl who died and donated her heart only to connect the mother of the child who received the heart (they were both in the audience). I connected with Princess Diana in one show. . . that was quite amazing as one of her friends was sitting in the audience. No two nights are the same. The one thing that remains the same is that there is always healing, laughter and fun.

Q. What can people expect who come to see your show in Australia?
I will basically give readings in the audience and help people connect to their loved ones. It’s important for me to get to as many people as possible because then there is a lot of healing. Just because someone doesn’t get a message they may get an indirect message through someones reading. So I always say listen to everyones reading because if you can relate to the message here is an indirect message for you. It’s been an amazing journey and I love coming back to Australia it’s like my second home.
