Hundreds of hospital staff quarantined

Over 200 hospital staff have been forced into quarantine after a nurse at a Queensland hospital was diagnosed with COVID-19.

It is believed the 32-year-old female employee contracted the virus while treating an infected patient at Ipswich Hospital.

Four health staff have caught coronavirus in the state so far.

Contact tracing to figure out who the nurse came into contact with is underway.

A statement has confirmed that while most appointments at the hospital have been put on hold, the emergency department is still open and running as usual.

Queensland's chief health officer Jeanette Young has urged people not to panic.
