The detox combo
It certainly helps your weight loss efforts and your general health if you can purge your digestive tract of toxins. A great natural combination for doing this is citrus juice coupled with a high fibre root crop, such as ginger or carrot.
The citrus possesses powerful detox properties that can help clean out any toxin build up that naturally occurs in your intestines on a standard diet. Ginger or carrot is a perfect complement because of their positive effects on digestive tract health and the powerful antioxidant benefits.
Fat fighting veggie juices
Vegetable juices are generally a healthy idea, but in particular the cruciferous family are potent fat fighters. This includes cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale and brussel sprouts. If the thought of juiced cabbage puts you off, simply juicing some fruit along with it will effectively transform it into something tasty.
The cruciferous veggies have powerful antioxidant properties and boost your metabolism to help combat body fat. They are also packed with phytonutrients, which reduce inflammation, regulate blood sugar levels and balance hormone levels.
Green tea is another antioxidant agent and a daily cuppa will help accelerate your body’s metabolism to help burn fat. At the same time it can boost your energy levels and dull the appetite, so that you don’t put the weight on in the first place!
Black coffee is another metabolism booster that can speed up the calorie burn process. It also has antioxidant properties, but the important thing is to keep it black if you are drinking it regularly, because adding milk and sugar means you are just adding the calories right back in.
Good old H2O
While it may not have the nutrients or properties of the above mentioned, some studies have indicated that it can result in weight loss, especially if drunk before meals. This can reduce the urge to eat too much and, quite simply, it replaces the intake of other beverages that may contain calories. Good water intake is also good for the metabolism too, so drink up!
