The taste of summer
- WYZA Life
There is something about an Australian summer – the very thought of long and lazy days somewhere near the water conjures up the idea of barbecued seafood. But what to drink with it?
This is where sauvignon blanc really comes into its own. It’s not suprising that this accessible and easy-to-drink variety is now taking over the aisles of most liquor stores. Its flinty, refreshing taste is the perfect accompaniment to seafood in all its forms, from fish to prawns and everything in between.
And, because of its huge popularity these days, there’s some great choices out there – and even better bargains.
We’ve always loved the wines of Tahbilk. This family-owned Victorian winery has been pumping out ripping wines for years. They’re also in career best form lately, to the point that James Halliday declared them to be his 2016 Winery of the Year!
Tahbilk is doing good things so it’s not surprising that they’ve score serious accolades. They've even managed to make a tasty bargain sauvignon blanc, with their 2016 Tahbilk One Million Cuttings Sauvignon Blanc even more drinkable than expected.
This smashing sauvignon blanc is sourced from a range of carefully selected Victorian vineyards, resulting in a bright, super fresh and snappy wine that showcases passionfruit and fresh herbs aromatics and a generous tropical citrus palate.
A wine that just screams “everyone come to my house”, it is ideally served well chilled and with a side salad of friends. Failing that, it would work wonders with some barbecue chilli mud crab, calamari or you can even substitute tofu if you’re not into crustaceans.
