Champion tennis player Ash Barty has announced her engagement to her partner of four years in a touching Instagram post.

Ash posted an adorable photo with her partner, Garry Kissick, accompanied by the caption, “Future Husband 💍❤️”, late on Tuesday. She also tagged Kissick. In the photo, Kissick is smiling down at Ash, who has her hand placed on his chest, displaying her gorgeous engagement ring for the camera.

Kissick also made his own post, featuring a photo of him kissing the side of Ash’s head as she beams at the camera, with the date of their engagement, November 15, as the caption.

Ash, 25, has been in a relationship with Kissick, 30, since 2017. Kissick is a professional golfer, and the couple met at the Brookwater Golf Club in 2016, the same venue where Ash would go on to win a championship over four years later.

Wellwishers flooded the comments, with the Women’s Tennis Association congratulating the couple, along with Tennis Australia, fellow tennis player Jaimee Fourlis, and director of the Brisbane Lions, Cathie Reid.

Just this week, Ash joined the ranks of Serena Williams and Martina Navratilova by celebrating the achievement of holding the year-end No.1 ranking for the third consecutive time. Earlier this year, she became the first Australian to win the Cincinnati Masters title since Evonne Goolagong Cawley 48 years ago. The tennis superstar has claimed five titles this year, and announced in October that she would not be competing in any further tournaments in 2021.
