Robert Irwin has stunned Sunrise hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr by revealing he’s been taking his sister Bindi’s baby out … to wrangle snakes!

Steve Irwin’s daughter gave birth to Grace Warrior Irwin Powell in March, with “proud uncle” Robert telling Sunrise the newborn “just loves life” at Australia Zoo.

“She is the most incredible little human in the world. She’s just amazing, she’s so bright, she’s so happy, she’s the most switched on little kid,” the 17-year-old said.

“She’s in there wrangling snakes and she’s going in booping koalas on the nose, she’s got the best life.”

The admission left the breakfast television stars stunned, with Kochie questioning whether the wildlife warrior was actually being serious.

“Oh Robert, come on! At seven months she’s wrangling snakes?” he asked.

“I’ve heard of uncles saying their nieces are advanced for their age….wrangling snakes?!’

Robert says: “well, she lives at a zoo, come on!” before adding that the reptiles he’s introduced Grace to are “not venomous.”

“Don’t tell Bindi! I hope Bindi’s not watch,” he laughed.

“I haven’t taken her near the crocs just yet.”

Robert was appearing on Sunrise ahead of Steve Irwin Day on November 15th.

He described the annual event as a “wonderful celebration of everything that dad was about, which is of course wildlife conservation but also fun and family.”

“It’s just going to be a big party to really celebrate everything that he stood for,” Robert explained.

“It’s amazing that to this day so many years on, we’re still able to continue this vital work and so many people are still inspired by his incredible legacy.

“It’s very special for all of us.”

Robert said people who wear khaki on the day will get a discount on their entry into Australia Zoo.

“Every cent that people pay to come in here, that goes all straight back into continuing the amazing wildlife and humanitarian work that dad started so many years ago.”
