A 56-year-old man From Tumbi, on the NSW Central Coast has been charged with murder, after allegedly killing his 82-year-old mother.

Police allege the man assaulted the woman on the morning of the 28th of July, using a pot plant in home they shared together.

He then left the premises, and later returned to ring emergency services.

Police say they received the call around 5:15 pm and rushed to the scene to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival they found the woman dead with head injuries.

The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Wyong Police station where he was charged.

“The man has been charged with murder,” a statement read.

“He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court later today.”

The home remains a crime scene as police investigate.
