2. Walk at Cradle Mountain
For many years the crown jewel in Tasmania’s wilderness experience has been the six-day Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair Overland Track. The trek through the World Heritage area is challenging but rewarding as it passes by glacial lakes, ice-carved crags, waterfalls and ancient forests. However, day walks from one of the lodges at Cradle Mountain – especially a lap of Dove Lake – reveal much of the beauty of the area, too.
