1. Explore the Kimberley
At the top of WA lies the strange, sparsely-inhabited Kimberley region. A coastal cruise reveals beaches, Aboriginal art sites, huge tides and plummeting waterfalls. Broome is an oasis of urbanity in the vast outback – the towns of Kununurra, Wyndham, Halls Creek and Derby are more traditional Kimberley communities. The Bungle Bungle Ranges are an almost mystical place of golden canyons, palm-filled valleys, and strange spikey flowers. Ever-present domes and spires are covered by orange and black horizontal banded skins of silica and algae.
