Australia’s Best Tourism Awards Bundaberg Turtle

The winners of the 2014 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards were recently announced. This is a prestigious award to receive and for us travellers, a great way to compile a wish list. The Australian destinations include factors such as nature, culture, food and festivals.

Tasmania scooped up a number of awards with 10 Gold, and three each of Silver and Bronze. This is on top of accolades from Lonely Planet, who rated the island state the fourth best region in the world to visit. There's even a Tassie whisky that's rated best in the world. Things are certainly looking up down south.

Tourism Tasmania CEO John Fitzgerald says, “A light is currently shining on Tasmanian Tourism as a record number of Australian and overseas visitors discover the surprising array of natural, heritage, cultural and gourmet experiences we have in such a compact holiday destination.”

However, there are award winners across the nation from Western Australia’s Margaret River through Uluru to the top of Queensland. If you visited every place on this list it’d be a good year of travel.
