Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival

The Festival will awaken the Huon Valley this winter with a celebration focused on the apple. If you ever wanted to see true community spirit, pristine wilderness and excellent produce all in the one place, then this is the event for you.

The main hub will be Willie Smith’s Apple shed in the Huon Valley where you can find craft ciders, artisan cheeses and just sit and relax in the picturesque surroundings.

At its core, the festival focus is on ‘wassailing’: the ages-old tradition of scaring nasties out of cider apple trees, from orchard to orchard, in order to bring on a stellar autumn yield.

Now, things may seem a little strange at first: kings, queens, processions, giving gifts to the trees, shouting, banging, fire, candlelight, and so forth, but it’s a sight to behold and there’ll be cider, entertainment and feast-worthy food in abundance.

Tickets: Adult Entry $5
