Iced tea with fresh mint

For a thirst-quenching drink on a hot summer's day, iced tea makes a deliciously delightful treat. Pour over ice-cubes and serve with a slice of lemon. This recipe is also extremely low in calories and has no added sugar, making it a healthy but refreshing drink alternative.  

Ingredients:

6 tea bags of your choice
6 cups water
a few sprigs of mint leaves
one lemon, sliced for serving

Directions:

  1. Boil 2 cups of water, add 6 tea bags to boiling water and let the tea steep for about 15 minutes without moving, (if you like sweet tea add sweetener).
  2. Discard tea bags (do not squeeze or tea will be bitter) and combine with remaining cold water and fresh mint. Refrigerate.
  3. Serve over ice with fresh lemon.

Tips:

Experiment with fruit flavors like passion fruit, peach, mango, pomegranate which are especially nice if you aren't using sugar, and extremely refreshing in the warmer months.

If you do like a sweeter tea try using the all-natural sweetener Stevia derived from the Stevia plant.
