Robert Irwin has opened up about his sister Bindi’s “new chapter” after she made explosive claims about their estranged grandfather Bob and went into hiding.

Bindi made the claims on social media, which caught a lot of attention as she said she suffered years of psychological “abuse” due to her grandfather Bob Irwin showing “no interest” in spending time with her.

“He has returned gifts I’ve sent him after he opened them, he has ignored my correspondence and from the time I was a little girl he has ignored me, preferring to spend time doing anything else rather than being with me,” she said in a shocking social media post.

“He has never said a single kind word to me personally,” the post added.

“It breaks my heart but it is not healthy to engage in an abusive relationship.”

She has since announced she was stepping back from “social media and most of my work in the public eye” to be with her “beautiful daughter” and “wonderful family”.

Robert spoke about his sister’s “little break” on Sunrise to weatherman Sam Mac.

“Mate, it’s incredible. Little Grace is just gorgeous, Bindi is doing so good,” Robert told Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac at Australia Zoo.

“You know she really has been taking time to focus on her little family and her and Chandler, they are just the best parents.”

The 17-year-old said he is “honoured” to “be a part of little Grace’s life,” before joking that he has been trying to teach the three-month-old how to play guitar.

“It just feels like this new chapter for our family, it’s really lovely.”
