On the 18th of October, celebrity magazine New Idea published a story implying Denyer was having an affair with his Dancing With The Stars partner. Both Cornish and Denyer denied any affair and said their relationship is purely platonic.
At the time, Mrs Denyer posted the front page on her Instagram, captioned with: “What the actual hell is this front page crap New Idea”.
On Saturday night, Grant and Chezzi Denyer praised Ms Cornish for her work.
“So much respect and love for this legend!” He wrote.
“Amazing to catch up with this dancing superstar @lilycornish over lunch
“After dancing for up to 10 hours a day for a few months you build a strong bond, share a lot of laughs and cause each other a fair share of injuries.”
He even hinted at a close friendship between the two women writing, “Between Chez & Lilz I didn’t get a bloody word in”.
His wife was similarly besotted, writing a comment on Denyer’s photo.
“We are SO lucky she actually agreed to come teach you how to dance – we knew it wouldn’t be easy. but what she was able to teach you was INCREDIBLE,” she said.
“You both worked so bloody hard … and it really did pay off. Your dances are SENSATIONAL and nothing short of miraculous.
“No offence Gidlet, you gave it your heart and soul and I love you to pieces but Lilz is a master choreographer and to watch her at work was mind blowing!!!! Bring on DWTS next year. I am SOOOO excited for this.”
The cheating allegations published by New Idea infuriated the Denyer household last month, with Mrs Denyer even saying the photographer who took the photos apologised, as they had been taken out of context.
“Right before this little ‘she’ll be right’ leg pat … I was on the phone with them also consoling Lilz,” Chezzi wrote, explaining that Cornish is a close friend of the family.
“Lilz is like our adopted daughter. We grew extremely close during her month long stay with us here in Bathurst. We absolutely adore her!”
She went on to describe the photo as “gross and really mean”.
Denyer is appearing in the upcoming season of Dancing with The Stars: All Stars alongside sunrise weather man Sam Mac, McLeod’s daughters star Bridie Carter, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Angie Kent.
