Samantha Armytage announced her intention to leave her breakfast show gig on Sunrise on Monday morning, and Allison Langdon couldn’t help but make a hilarious dig.
During Monday’s Today show, Langdon turned to co-host Karl Stefanovic and seemed to be mocking Armytage’s shock announcement that came this morning.
“Well for now I’d just like to say I am leaving,” Langdon said.
“Are you?” Stefanovic asked.
Langon then went on to clarify that she was leaving “the studio”.
The rest of the Today show team burst into laughter with Brooke Boney chiming in to say: “Ally that is spicy. That is so spicy.”
“You’ve still got it Ally,” Sylvia Jeffries added.
The dig follows after Armytage announced that she was quitting Sunrise in an emotional announcement during the show on Monday.
“I have some big news to announce,” she said.
“The time has come for the sun to set on my time at Sunrise. I have always been very brave and fearless in my life and my career and this decision is no different.”
Already, viewers are speculating who will take on Armytage’s role.
Top contenders include Monique Wright, Edwina Bartholomew, Natalie Barr, and Sarah Harris.
Armytage said she desperately has a desire to step out of the public eye.
“As many of you know, of my personal life the last six months have been very bittersweet, some bits have been very happy and some bits have been very, very sad and I want to step out of this public world for a while take some time and calm things down. Enjoy a bit of slow living and spend some time with my precious family and husband and Banjo,” she said.
“I go out of this job at a time of my own choosing and on top of the ratings which not many people in television can say they do.”
