Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has been spotted filming scenes in the lead up to Princess Diana’s fateful moment for The Crown.

The 32-year-old was wearing a grey suit and black top – the same outfit worn by the Princess just hours before she was killed in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris back in 1997 at the age of 36.

Nearby was fellow actor Khalid Abdalla, 40, who plays Egyptian film producer and Diana’s partner, Dodi Al-Fayed, who was killed in the same crash.

Netflix has however confirmed that the car crash scene won’t be included in the show and will instead have the events leading up to Diana’s death.

Filming for the scenes are being done in Barcelona, with parts of the city given a makeover to look like Paris.

It comes as Dame Judi Dench came out swinging in defence of the royal family calling out the latest season of The Crown for blurring “the lines between historical accuracy and crude sensationalism”.

She called on Netflix to issue a disclaimer at the beginning of each episode reminding audiences that The Crown is a fictionalised drama.

Dench, who was made a dame by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 1988, said she was concerned that viewers would take The Crown’s account as historically accurate.
