Music legend Tina Turner passed away at the age of 83 after a long battle with illness.

The singer mostly stayed out of the spotlight after she retired in 2009, and hadn’t been seen in public for almost four years prior to her death.

Her final public appearance was in November 2019, where she travelled to New York to attend the Broadway premiere of the musical based on her life, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical.

Turner had spent most of her final years in her Switzerland home, with her longtime partner German music executive, Erwin Bach.

Although the Queen of Rock ‘n Roll was rarely seen in public, her social media account would occasionally share a glimpse into the singer’s condition.

In March 2021 fans got a rare photo of present-day Turner as she celebrated the release of her documentary, Tina, where she looked frail but in good spirit as she posed in front of the TV.

“I am so excited to share this movie with you – seeing the concert scenes made me relive some of the proudest moments of my life. I simply had to sing along and dance around my living room,” she captioned the post.

In June 2021, the star shared a photo of herself in what appeared to be the garden of her Swiss manor.

In October 2021 the singer posed by a piano as she celebrated her long-overdue induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Although she retired from the music industry, the singer released a self-help memoir in 2020 titled, Happiness Becomes You.
