Having an injured or unwell child is every parent’s worst nightmare.

And on Wednesday evening, Channel Nine presenter David Campbell and his wife Lisa were living out the confronting reality of having an unwell child after their youngest son Billy, five, ended up at Sydney’s Children Hospital with a fractured arm after falling off the couch.

The host of Today Extra posted a series of photos on Instagram of his son recovering in the emergency room with a cast on his arm, thanking the staff for all of their help.

“Thank you to Dr Mitch, Tori and Gentle Bek at @sydneychildrens for looking after Billy and his fractured arm,” the 46-year-old began.

Adding: “Only tiny but still uncomfortable for him. He is impressed with the cast. A simple ninja kick off the couch was the cause. He will be back doing in no time. #billy.”

The father-of-three’s post was quickly inundated with well wishes from his famous friends.

“The wonder years mate!” wrote Home And Away star Cameron Daddo.

“I can’t wait to sign that cast … hope the little ninja warrior is ok,” said Morning Show host Larry Emdur.

“Impressive cast! Glad he's OK,” Studio 10 presenter Angela Bishop added.
