Prince George captured the hearts of the world with his cheeky grin and playing around with his sister Princess Charlotte.

However, when Duchess Kate and Prince William were expecting Prince George, they almost named him something completely different.

In a resurfaced Vanity Fair interview, royal reporter Katie Nicholl confirmed that Prince George might not have been Prince George at all.

“Courtiers insisted the pair had not found out the sex of their unborn baby, and friends close to the couple claim William wanted a surprise,” royal reporter Katie Nicholl wrote in a recently resurfaced Vanity Fair report.

“Although Kate apparently suspected it was a boy and had set her heart on the name Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn.”

Nicholl also said that “Kate was reported to have affectionately referred to her bump as ‘out little grape’ while she was pregnant and there was a flurry of betting on possible names”.

The royal couple ended up going with a quite long full name for Prince George, as George is the name of Queen Elizabeth’s late father, King George VI and Alexander was one of the middle names.

Prince George’s full name is His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. What a tongue twister.
