Ash Barty has made an incredible career move just weeks after announcing her retirement from tennis.

The World No.1 kept mum about her plans when she retired but is now excited to reveal she will be writing a book series titled Little Ash.

Ash will be teaming up with First Nations creatives Jasmin McGaughey and Jade Goodwin “to bring young readers this fun and exciting new illustrated series about school, sport, friendship and family”.

“It’s the day of the tennis tournament and Ash is so excited to compete!” the short blurb reads.

“But Ash forgets her favourite hat, there’s a flat tyre and Ash wonders how they will ever get there!

“Will Ash arrive in time for her big match?”

Ash said writing a book (or two) was something she has always wanted to do and was inspired by her niece Lucy.

“The project has been so much fun and something I have always wanted to do,” she told The Courier Mail.

“Lucy was my north star. She is the perfect age to understand stories and storylines and read chapter books.”

The six-book mini series will be published by HarperCollins and will be available for purchase in July.

Ash will also be releasing a memoir of her life later this year.
