Actor Vincenzo Colosimo has been slapped with a $2,500 fine after pleading guilty to drug driving.

The former Underbelly actor appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to drug driving, driving while unlicensed and giving police false details.

The 55-year-old was driving his silver Peugeot in April last year when police ran a plate number check and found that he was unlicenced, the court heard.

Upon being stopped, police questioned the actor who said he did not have his licence on him and that he was Anthony Colosimo and had a twin brother.

Officers ran a drug test on Vincenzo despite his pleas not to and they found methamphetamine in his system.

His car was impounded on the spot and it was found that he had in fact lost his licence back in 2017 and that he had two prior offences for driving while suspended.

The last time Vincenzo appeared in court in 2017, he was warned that if he reappeared for a fourth time he would face imprisonment.

However, magistrate Olivia Trumble decided against sending the actor to jail because his past offences are “similar”.

“My view is though that a term of imprisonment is not appropriate in this situation,” she told the court, news.com.au reported.

“My view is that while a somewhat merciful disposition in the circumstances, an aggregate financial penalty is appropriate.”

“Those matters date back to 2017, so they are somewhat aged.

“It demonstrates that while you may not be completely there, you are on a particular path to recovery.”

The court also heard that Vincenzo currently has 169 outstanding penalties with Fines Victoria totalling $65,215.

Vincenzo was subsequently fined $2,500 and was banned from driving in Victoria for 16 months.
