Boy George has given a characteristically hilarious response to reports that he has been dumped from the star-studded coaching panel of The Voice.

As the hit singing competition show moves from Channel Nine to Seven, rumours began swirling about what elements of the programme is set to change and the replacement of Boy George was a main one.

Will the show’s all-star coaching panel – George, Delta Goodrem, Kelly Rowland and Guy Sebastian – follow The Voice to Seven?

According to an “industry insider” quoted in New Idea, the coaching panel – George, Delta Goodrem, Kelly Rowland and Guy Sebastian – are allegedly not moving to Channel 7.

“Seven are going for local coaches only, which means no more Kelly Rowland or Boy George, or overseas celebrities Zooming in,” New Idea quotes the anonymous source as saying.

The report went on to claim that the show will be sourcing local singing stars which include Jessica Mauboy and The Veronicas.

On Monday, Daily Mail published their own article with the sensational headline: “Seven ‘dumps international Voice coaches in favour of local singers’”.

In response, Boy released his own sassy statement.

The star told one follower that Seven “can’t afford me darling”.

After being told to “hang in there” by one fan, he said: “Yeah I’m down to my last jar of metaphorical caviar. Can I move into your spare bedroom?”

A Nine spokesperson told news.com.au: “Unfortunately due to the age of the show and its declining demographic profile, The Voice had become by far the poorest financial performer on our slate. We wish Seven well in their quest to revive yet another Nine show.”

Seven announced that Sonia Kruger will host the show in 2021.
