Most people are in agreement that airline food is universally terrible, but a chef has revealed the only two meals to order if you want to increase your chances of actually eating a tasty meal while flying.

According to Fritz Gross, director of culinary excellence at LSG Sky Chefs Asia Pacific, the trick is to always pick the stew or casserole.

Why? Unlike chicken or pasta, a stew doesn’t dry out or overcook when it is reheated.

“We can simmer it and reheat it over and over and it will still be a stew,” Fritz told CNN.

No stews or casseroles on the menu? Another good option is fried rice, which can be reheated and still retain its flavour and texture.

When it comes to dessert, always choose the frozen option.

Aviation website InFlightFeed’s creator, Nikos Loukas, told Insider: “Ice cream is really good.

“It tastes the same in the air as it does on the ground.”
